Leonel Nhavene is an Electronic Engineer from Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique with over 10 years of experience in ICT, networking, and cybersecurity. He currently works as a Cybersecurity Incident Analyst at the National Institute of Electronic Governance (INAGE, IP) in Mozambique, where he is responsible for monitoring, detecting, and responding to cybersecurity incidents affecting critical government infrastructure.
Previously, he served as the Cybersecurity Team Manager and CSIRT Coordinator at MoRENet (Mozambique Research and Education Network), leading national cybersecurity operations and supporting connected institutions in securing their networks.
Leonel has a solid background in network administration, incident response, penetration testing, vulnerability management, and digital forensics. He holds multiple professional certifications, including CCNA Security, Huawei HCIA, and Mikrotik certifications, and has completed advanced training with institutions such as the RNP's Escola Superior de Redes and SecurityMadein.lu.
He has also represented Mozambique at international events such as the FIRST Conference in Dublin (2022) and Fukuoka (2024), contributing to global discussions on cybersecurity and incident response.
