San José, California, April 2026 – Wazuh, an open-source Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Extended Detection and Response (XDR) solution, has announced that it is entering into a partnership with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), a multidisciplinary research and technology organisation in South Africa.

Through the partnership, the CSIR will integrate these cybersecurity capabilities with technologies already offered to South African clients. The incident detection and response system will be customised for local users and complement an existing suite of home-grown, localised technologies supported by the CSIR’s teams and cutting-edge facilities. This collaboration supports ongoing innovation in the challenging domain of information and cybersecurity research and development.

The CSIR is an entity of the South African Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation responsible for research and technological innovation across multiple domains to address industrial and societal challenges. It provides cutting-edge solutions in many areas, including agriculture, health, defence, manufacturing, energy, mobility, environment and digitalization.

Muyowa Mutemwa, the Research Group Leader for Data Security and Analytics at the CSIR Information and Cybersecurity Research Centre, says: ”The collaboration provides the CSIR with an opportunity to fully explore and adapt the capabilities and features of Wazuh, as well as other technologies that can be integrated with Wazuh in order to form new solutions. Wazuh is a suitable solution for both public and private sector organisations that currently make use of our homegrown technologies.”
